In Houston, a crash that involved a car and a semi-truck ended with firefighters pulling the man out of the crushed vehicle. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
HOUSTON – An early-morning accident in southwest Houston involving a car and 18-wheeler truck ends with firefighters using the jaws of life to rescue one of the drivers. The rain and slick roadway may have been factors in the crash.
Investigators say the car was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 59, the Southwest Freeway, when it crashed into the rear of the 18-wheeler truck near the South Shepherd Drive exit.
The crash caused the bumper of the truck to fly off and it almost struck another vehicle.
When firefighters arrived before 2 a.m. Wednesday, the truck was not at the accident site. The driver of the car was trapped inside and firefighters had to remove him from the vehicle.
